Barclaycard has many new products out on the market today, and one of them is the Barclaycard® Rewards MasterCard® – Excellent Credit. Obviously this Barclays Rewards card is for people with excellent credit. The other option for this card is the Barclaycard® Rewards MasterCard® – Average Credit.
The Barclays Rewards card features Barclaycard’s point earning system that can be redeemed for travel, consumer goods, dining, and many more categories. Let’s dig in and see what all the fuss is about!
- No Annual Fee
One very special aspect of the card is that it does not charge an annual fee, making card membership absolutely free!
- Points Earning
One great benefit of the BarclayCard Rewards MasterCard is its points earning model. For every dollar spent on gas, groceries, and utilities (a large portion of a normal adult’s expenditures), the card will grand you two points per dollar spent. There is no limit to the number of bonus points you can earn, according to the card’s terms and conditions. In addition, you’ll earn one point per dollar on every other purchase made on the card.
- Redemption for Travel, Goods, and More
One benefit of the card is its redemption process. Unlike cards from American Express or Chase that are tied to a specific program, or points that can be redeemed one to one for another travel program’s points, Barclaycard operates on a points for cash redemption system. Points are pegged at a one point per cent redemption rate, making it possible for users to redeem for any flight they can find. You pay for the purchase by going to the Rewards tab at BarclaycardUS.com and choose the purchase you’d like to redeem for. This makes it possible to choose any purchase made for points redemption. Incredibly flexible, but limited in the sense that you can’t find “sweet spots” in award charts like you can in other travel programs.
While it’s not the most exciting card out there, the fact is that there are readers of this post that will benefit greatly from the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard. For one, the no annual fee is incredibly exciting, as it allows for no-fee points earning year round. In addition, no minimum spend to earn 5,000 points is a quick way to earn fifty dollars! I think that the lack of more benefits that other cards like the Barclaycard Arrival PlusTM World Elite MasterCard® offer, like TripIt Pro membership or no foreign transaction fees may keep some from applying for this card. But, if you feel like this card is a good fit for your spend trends, apply away!
