All-in-all, credit cards are your friend. They are often demonized by financial “experts,” but if used responsibly they give you greater control over your credit score than any other type of loan. If you are not in debt and have an established budget, one of the best financial strategies is filtering all monthly purchases through a credit card and then paying it off in full. This practice opens up opportunities for cash back or travel rewards, improves your credit score, and provides the added fraud protection offered by most credit card companies.


Credit cards are also a necessary baby step before you can access resources like mortgages or auto loans. You need to prove yourself to the lenders first, and a credit card is one of the most accessible ways to do this.
